About Us

Van Zandt County Humane Society was formed in 2000 by a group of concerned citizens to take care of stray and unwanted animals in Van Zandt County, Texas. Most of the area veterinarians recognize our work and help us to keep current on medical information. We are grateful for their support.

Van Zandt County Humane Society is 100% foster based and depends on donations. Animals are cared for in the homes of our volunteers with VZCHS providing food, housing and medical expenses. All animals in the program are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, given health checks and feline leukemia/FIV testing for cats and heartworm testing for dogs.

Our Board of Directors is elected each year. All members who have dues current as of October 31 are eligible to vote.

All donations, monetary and in kind, are tax deductible. Please click here for more information on donations.

VZCHS maintains a "hotline". Please call 903/962-5700 for information about dumped animals, other rescue organizations, low cost spay/neuter facilities, or any other questions related to animals. Leave a message and a volunteer will return your call as soon as possible. Or if you prefer, you may contact us HERE
